Note: I said I've taken a little break from my comic to improve on my art. I've finally gotten able to do colored lineart, but I'm not sure if the black lineart added more drama to it. Also I'm not quite satisfied yet.
Wow, some very nice improvements over the original!
While I loved the pen and ink style of the original, the pastel colouring of the new version is closer to show-quality, and as such, helps to maintain suspension of disbelief that this is canon.
Additionally, the thicker outlines make everything seem smoother. They're so smooth I thought they were all vectors at first.
The perspective on the backgrounds and characters have been improved, lines have been straightened out and the characters have been repositioned to fit in each frame.
Their eyes are much nicer, too. Dirpy's eye while she is examining her kitchen looks more natural, as does her sad face in the second to last panel.
Unfortunately, I actually prefer the stairs in the original. The size, width and perspective on the new stairs makes it look like it could extend through the wall, and the gradients on the steps look slightly odd since they're so uniform and there's no lip on each step. To solve this, you can decrease the staircase's width, make fewer steps and draw a lip on each step or have the gradients going the other way (example: [link]) as well as having a different size and gradient for each step.
When I read this for the first time it had a big impact on me, I felt truly sad for Derpy. Full marks for impact and vision from me
Aawwwwoh.... poor Derpy...... *crys with her then decides to take her and steal the TARDIS to go for a trip and leave notes to change the past!* (cant have immediate contact that would be wrong!)
